I believe the minimalist, which has been a hit in the '90s, is coming back. Although the retro look of any decade is never the same as the decade in which it has began.
And so the minimalist look is coming back, with more textures, rather than plain, simple lines.

First, I noticed the make up trends portrayed in the magazine for the upcoming fall/winter season - natural. Thin brows are no longer in. Thicker, natural brows are coming back - although they must be well groomed.
Colors: basic black and white. Metallics. Also red.
Style: think opposite of the '80's - which is simple and straight. But add some texture -fine and heavy knits. Lines - straight horizontal, diagonal or vertical, perhaps some waves and curves. But NOT floral or bold prints. The military look is still in from the past 2 seasons.

Both pant and skirt suits are in. Fur is definitely in.
I really like the minimalist fashion style. These styles are simpler and last longer than the loud, outrageous styles. Even in the past few years I have been a minimalist - I guess it is my personal style.
Personal style stems more so from your own personal preference than the most current fashion trend - your fashion taste matches your personality. Developing a personal style is preferential to blindly following trends. I love helping my clients discovering their personal style, because it makes them feel comfortable to be themselves, and they are then able to choose stylish items that reflect their best selves. It's a personal growth journey, rather than shopping for the sake of shopping.
What is your personal style?
