Many think they image consulting is too much of a luxury for their lifestyle. Afterall, we only ever see actors and singers having fashion stylists (not image consultants) work for them. There are also plenty of makeover shows on TV. Those who are living normal lives think that these are movie star treatments. It is unfortunate that image consulting is portrayed in such a way that most normal people see it as a luxury, not necessity.
Of course, there are plenty of image consultants who do just that - making people who are already in the limelight, shine more. Some would specifically address corporations, working with top managers to establish dress codes and rules, to implement a good image for the company.
I like working with "normal" people - people who are into personal growth - inner growth, not just putting on great clothing and make up to please others, or rather, get something from others.
People who come to me - some of them have trouble believing that they can really shine. Somehow they perceive themselves with many flaws, feeling unworthy of good things in life. When I meet with each client, my intuition kicks in and I can see their beauty - beauty that the clients do not yet see. I just help them realize their beauty by helping them to work on their outer image. I do personality assessments with them to see if there are any areas of weakness in which they want to turn into strengths. Then I work with their outer image to bring that change about.
I also teach them how to manage their wardrobe and make up effectively, rather than wastefully. A wasteful approach would be to buy clothing and make up on a whim. Managing your image effectively takes planning, and it's for the long term. Afterall, a wholistic approach does not only benefit the person consults with me, but benefits those who interact with them. The result is a change of habit in the client's way of living - changing in the way they perceive themselves, how they manage themselves.
Changes in life come about by changes in thinking and habits. This, I feel, is the essence of my mission in seeing and unveling beauty in people.
