It's easy and convenient to find plastic brushes and combs to brush the hair. But do you know that plastic combs and brushes cause not only static but also cause damage to hair as well?
A healtheir option is to use a wooden comb or brush. Natural wood massages the scalp while you brush the hair, rather than creating damage. They may be slightly more expensive, but for the beneift of your hair, it's worth it.
I have personally used plastic brushes and combs before, but switched over to a wooden comb 4 years ago. It lasts longer than their plastic counterparts.

Same with bath or shower brushes - rather than using a synthetic loofah, try a natural bristle brush or a natural sponge. It is known that dry brushing is the Swedish method for getting rid of dead skin and increase circulation of the skin - only natural bristle brushes should be used, since the synthetic ones cause skin damage (too harsh). Dry brush myself before every shower, and have recommended this to those I know. The ones who listened were impressed with the result - smoother, softer skin! If in Toronto or LA "Acca Kappa" is a greta resource for natural brushes and stuff.
