Someone told me about a TV clip he saw about a very, very expensive perfume. The manufacturer is Amouage, and somewhere in the world (I think it's Oman), the perfume sells for $2000USD. Why the high price? It's beccause of the gold that is in the bottle.
Being a perfume enthusiast, I searched the internet to find out more about Amouage. I think the $2000 bottle is available only in one country, because the prices of the perfumes I have seen on the website is on average $250 (Euro). The ingredient lists looked great - the compositions are very well put together, and the perfumes were composed by a French perfumer. So I decided to visit the one store in my city that carries perfumes by Amouage. (This picture is Dia, from www.amouage.com).
The unfortunate thing is that the store did not carry any of the sample bottles, something I wanted to buy, nor the one I wanted to try, named Gold. However, the store did carry Dia and Ciel, which are two other perfumes from Amouage, and I had both sprayed on my wrists, respectively.
Dia was amazing! It was scented like an expensive perfume of the past. I often complain about modern perfumes (ones that came out after the 80s) because they smell cheap, and often too chemically ladened. They arouse an allergic reaction and slight nausea in me. Even perfumes with big fashion names smell terrible. I guess their compositions are mostly of chemicals rather than flowers, leaves, musks, and tree resins, or perhaps they are just badly composed, lacking in harmony.
But Dia...one sniff was enough for me to remember it. Usually a perfume's top notes are not great, yet this one, all the top notes, middle notes, base notes were excellent. The scent lasted for many hours, and was even there after I showered. It was only gone after I swam in a chlorinated pool. The number of hours it lasted on my wrist totalled 18. The scent was pleasant all the way through, as the top notes disappeared into the middle notes, and middle notes disappeared into base notes. The image that goes with this scent is: elegance, classy, sophisticated and complex in character.
Ciel, on the other hand, even though it smelled nice, was not as great as Dia. Probably I prefer the more complex perfumes. This one was lighter and simpler. Definitely more suitable for younger women - between the ages of 20 and early 30's. The image of this scent is young and fresh, ready to see the world.
Dia is $280 Euro, which is about $350 USD. Is this perfume worth the price? Yes, every cent of it!
