Dark Eye Circles

A person asked me how dark eye circles may be concealed. Can people use creams to reduce it?

In my experience, having enough sleep is the best remedy. The body is meant to rest at night and be active during the day - it is natural to do this. For those who for one reason or another must work in the night shift, they are putting their bodies into an unnatural cycle. Here are some sleep tips:

1. When you sleep during daytime, make sure you do get the full 8 to 10 hours. It is easy to sleep less especially when everyone else is out and about. Unplug the phone.

2. Make your sleeping environment conductive to a good sleep for you - it means sleep in an area where noise level is at the lowest. Also keep the area very dark - the body does not rest well unless the environment mimics night time. Draw your curtains. Wear ear plugs, if necessary.

Nutritional and Cosmetic Tips:

1. Exercising the body and massaging the area around the eyes help the blood circulates, which reduces the dark eye circles.

2. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water.

3. Eat foods full of vitamin C and E, or take supplements.

4. Help the liver detox - a congested liver may cause dark eye circles. A great way to help the liver detox is to sweat the toxins out through sauna, or take lots of water with lemon juice (lemon or lime juice is a natural liver detoxifier).

5. Use a concealer, and pat the make up on the area lightly. Choose a shade that is lighter than the normal skin shade for adequate coverage. Then use loose powder to seal the concealer so that it doesn't come off easily.

Last but not least, aim to find a job that you can work during day time, rather than night.
