I watched the Oscars last night, and noticed that a few actresses were quite bronzed. So I know what will happen...people will follow suit. Many do it in a stupid way - just bake under the sun. I guess there are many who just won't take the message of "too much sun isn't good for you" seriously until they get something serious, like cancer. Especially young people. But then, from what I've seen on the cruise, some seniors didn't care either.
When people tan, it's not guaranteed that they will get that bronzed look. They first get the roasted look, like a piece of barbequed meat. Then some people get flaky skin next. Some get freckles, and other sun marks. Then their skin appears more aged and leathery. Depending on your skin type, you may or may not tan well.
Plus, do you know that the tanned look from movie stars and models are sometimes not from a real tan? I've read interviews of some of these people, and they say the tanned look is from bronzers.
Last but not least, just because the bronzed look is in, does it mean that people have to blindly follow it? Think about it.
So, alternatives to suntanning are as follows:
1. Just skip it, for the sake of your skin. But I know many will not follow this advice, so...
2. Use bronzers, all over the body if you are to wear skin revealing clothes.
3. Use a blush that has a hint of bronze or brown on your cheeks, so that you'd get that sunkissed look
And if you like going under the sun, do so before 11am for not more than 15 minutes a day. Build up your tan slowly, don't roast yourself.
Side note: I've gotten 2 spam comments on this blog now, and they are most unwelcomed. Does anyone know how to stop this?
