While reading a blog entry today, I came across a link to this article (it has nothing to do with dressing and grooming, but liking yourself enough to do what you need and want to do, unapologetically). The piece made complete sense to me. So rather than letting people know that people judge others by their image, there's the other side too - we judge ourselves.
So when I choose an outfit , I don't choose it just to please others. There is the element of dressing for the occasion - be it a casual business meeting, a formal presentation, or a party. There is the element of dressing according to the design elements of my body (color, body type), then there is dressing to reflect who I am. Dressing to build rapport with others. Also dressing using certain pieces because I like them.
Dressing up using the above ways, I get to enjoy the process of choosing the outfit and wearing it. I show clients how to do it too. However, it takes time to change the old habit of randomly putting on whatever, to choosing pieces and wearing them specifically using the above mentioned ways.
How about you? Doyou care about how you dress and groom? Are you dressing to please others, or are you dressing to please yourself?
